Wiladean Rooks Miller Kuykendall

Stapleton, GA –          Wiladean Rooks Miller Kuykendall, 98, entered into her eternal rest Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper GA. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, July 15, 2021 with Reverend Tim Pendrey officiating.  Interment will follow in the Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery in Avera.

The second child of ten born to the late Pauline Faglier Rooks and the late James Lamar Rooks, Wiladean grew up in Stapleton and was a graduate of Stapleton High School. Moving to Augusta in 1973, she worked as a bookkeeper and in security, retiring from J. B. White’s after 18 years of service.  Wiladean, a woman of faith, was a member of Waldens United Methodist Church in Avera, but also attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as well as Duhart Baptist Church. She loved music and played the piano by-ear. A gregarious person, she loved to travel, meet new people and visit friends. Wiladean will be remembered for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She had an absolute, unwavering, unconditional love for her family. Wiladean is now in Heaven experiencing Glory where there are no more tears or pain.

Wiladean was also preceded in death by her siblings, Voncile Rooks, James “Buddy” Rooks, Ethredge “Coot” Rooks, Joyce Dixon, Jimmie Clark, Shelby Harden, John Owen Rooks and Sonya Usry. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Gail Miller Blackwell (Roy) of Jasper; three grandsons, Neal Blackwell of Talkeetna AK, John Blackwell (Amy) of Sterling AK, and Brandon Blackwell of Jasper; three great grandchildren, Jayvan Blackwell, Denali Blackwell and Kaleb Baughn; sister, Virginia Stanfield; sister-in-law, Rachel Widener; special cousin, Margaret Rooks; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  Serving as pallbearers John Blackwell, Brandon Blackwell, Barry Rooks, Tim Rooks, Jim Stanfield, Joey Stanfield, Chandler Smith and Keith Usry.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial contributions be made to the Waldens Cemetery Association, c/o Patricia Kitchens, 1304 Hadden Pond Rd, Avera GA 30803.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home Wednesday evening, July 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
