Wallace Pilcher Hadden

Avera, GA  –               Wallace Pilcher Hadden, 85, loving husband of 64 years to Delores “Annette” Brown Hadden, entered into his eternal rest Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 23, 2020 with Rev. Chuck Kittrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Gospel Chapel Cemetery in Avera.

One of five children born to the late Vera Alice Sheppard Hadden and the late Clinton Nathaniel Hadden, Wallace was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County where he attended Stapleton Elementary and graduated from Louisville Academy.  He met the love of his life at the age of 16, marrying her five years later and loving her throughout their life’s journey. After high school, he worked for Knox Construction in Thomson before starting his career with Jefferson EMC, retiring as District Manager after 40 years of service.  Wallace was an outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt.  He did enjoy going out to eat and, in later years, to ride the roads, while all the time checking out power lines. A NASCAR fan, his favorite driver was Dale Earnhart. Having a love and passion for people, Wallace never met a stranger and enjoyed getting to know them. A loyal, dedicated friend, he was compassionate and giving, always helping others in need. Wallace loved his Lord and Savior, serving Him since 1973 at Calvary Baptist Church where he was a founding member and was their Secretary/Treasurer.  A devoted family man, Wallace loved his family unconditionally and was the happiest and most content in their presence. His treasure was not in earthly possessions but in the relationships with his family, church family, friends and friends he had yet to meet.  Wallace has now met his Savior face-to-face and is worshipping Him in Glory.

Wallace was also preceded in death by his brother, Fay Hadden. Those left to cherish his memory include his three children, Terry Hadden (Debbie), Roxanne Hadden (Jeff) and Randy Hadden (Stephanie); three siblings, Murray Hadden (Joy), Gloria Smith (Charles) and Dean Hadden (Cathy); a sister-in-law, Brenda Hadden; five grandchildren, Katie Arrington (Josh), John Wallace Hadden (Logan), Kaitlyn Adams (Taylor), Macie Len Hadden and Kathryn Hadden; four great grandchildren, Malorie Arrington, Avery Hadden, John Hadden and Peyton Adams; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Boyd, Jack Godowns, Bobby Hadden, David Hadden, Billy Lamb, Andy Rooks, Mikel Skinner and Travis Taylor.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020.
