Thelma Scott Prickett

Stapleton, GA  –         After a long, hard-fought battle with pulmonary fibrosis, Thelma Scott Prickett, 68, loving wife of 49 years to Donald Berry Prickett Sr, entered into her eternal rest Sunday night, August 2, 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday morning, August 7, 2020 in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Rev. Lewis Farrer officiating.

Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is encouraged.

One of four children born to the late Lois Averette Scott and the late Willie Scott, Thelma grew up in the Matthews/Hephzibah area and attended school in Hephzibah. She married the love of her life and started her family.  She did work at the chair plant in Waynesboro for a while but her main focus was being a homemaker and caring for her family.  She loved her Lord and Savior and attended Crossroads Evangelical Church in Matthew. Thelma’s favorite pasttime was shopping and she enjoyed just riding around—she was always ready to get out and go. A people-person, she liked to get to know others. It has been said that she “liked conversing while somebody—anybody—was listening”.  Having a great sense of humor, Thelma had an infectious laugh and always kept a positive attitude while bravely enduring her many health issues. Lovingly known to her family as “Slamma”, her love for her them was absolute and all-encompassing but it was the grandchildren who stole her heart completely.  Thelma’s loving, generous spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Thelma is also preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Scott. Other survivors include her three sons, Scott Prickett (Kathy), Donald “Bug” Prickett and Jamie Prickett; six grandchildren, Courtney Prickett, Hailey Reynolds (Austin), Katelynn Prickett, Leon “Bubba” Prickett, Christian Prickett and Kelsey Unruh; great grandson, Bentley Reynolds; two sisters, Nellie Grubbs (Mike) and Christine Skinner; nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.

Because of the financial burden caused by her extended illness, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.
