Sybil Elizabeth McDonald Etterle
Blythe, GA – Sybil Elizabeth McDonald Etterle, 80, loving wife to the late James David Etterle, entered into her eternal rest late Tuesday night, July 13, 2021 at her residence. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Monday morning, July 19, 2021, with Reverend Jason Burton officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Hephzibah.
One of six children born to the late Flossie Arrington McDonald and the late John Royce McDonald Sr., Sybil grew up in Jefferson County and graduated from Wrens High School. After marrying in 1969, she moved to Blythe. She worked at Peggy’s in Wrens, then at Ft. Gordon, after which she worked at Carol Fabrics before being a full-time homemaker. She served her Lord and Savior as a member of the Wrens Church of God. She had a passion for music and loved to dance. Musically inclined, she loved to play the piano. A people-person, she never met a stranger and was known for her fun-loving, happy, bubbly personality. Her greatest love was for her family and spending time with them brought her great joy.
Sybil was also preceded in death by her son, Kenny Etterle; granddaughter, Kayla Howell; and siblings, Jerrell McDonald, John Royce “Mac” McDonald Jr. and Betty McDonald. Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Kathy Finkenbinder, Tammy Howell and Jimmie Etterle (Barry Cowart); four grandchildren, Wendy Millman, Jackie Barfield, Donnie Lindburgh and John Howell; twelve (12) great grandchildren; two siblings, S. J. McDonald (Libby) and Iris Padgett; nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Jimmie Etterle, Barry Cowart, Donnie Lindburgh, John Howell, Doug Pyke and Robbie Padgett.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M Sunday, July 18, 2021 at James Funeral Home.
