Shirley Ann Mock Taylor

Avera, GA –                Shirley Ann Mock Taylor, 66, loving wife to the late James Emory Taylor, entered into her eternal rest Monday, December 20, 2021.  Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 31, 2021 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tate Wagner officiating. Interment next to her beloved husband will follow in the Wrens Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

One of six children born to the late Betty Jane Doyle Mock and the late Claude Watson Mock Sr., Shirley grew up in Sylvania.  The family moved to Waynesboro where she was a 1973 graduate of Waynesboro High School.  After marrying the love of her life, she lived in Augusta and Thomson before they moved making their home in Avera. Shirley worked in the medical field to help support her family. She loved her Savior and was Baptist by faith.  Shirley had a big heart and loved all of her family unconditionally. She was her husband’s care giver as his health failed and she did anything and everything she could for her children’s safety, health and happiness. Family was everything to her.

Shirley was also preceded in death by her brothers, Claude Watson Mock Jr., Wayne Allen Mock and Randy Mock Sr.  Those left to cherish her memories include her three children, Rachael Taylor (Dave), Jamie Wills (Richard) and James E. Taylor Jr. (Ashley); two sisters, Annette Bolton (Wendell) of Waynesboro and Susie Hall (Earnie) of Thomson; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Landon Yates, Wendell Bolton III, Codey Bolton, Earnie Hall Jr., Trae Hall, Hunter Hall, Richard Campbell and Dwayne Jackson.

The family will receive visitors at James Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, December 31, 2021 prior to the funeral service.
