Sara Scott Cato Bentley

Wrens, GA  –              Sara Scott Cato Bentley, 86, loving wife of the late Thomas Wilkes “T.W.” Bentley, Jr., entered into her eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2019 at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M Saturday morning, April 12, 2019 with Rev. Mira Barrett officiating.  Interment will follow in the Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. prior to the services Saturday morning, April 12th.

One of four children born to the late Mary Alice Rhodes Cato and the late Charlie Cato, Sara was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County—growing up and attending school in Stapleton and then making her home in Wrens after marrying the joy of her life.  Since his passing in 2011, she made Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center her home, where she was well loved and cared for. As a young girl, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, serving Him in the fellowship of Waldens United Methodist Church. Sara found great pleasure and comfort working in her flowers.  She enjoyed a simple, uncluttered life where she focused on her Lord, her family and friends. Her beautiful heart is now at rest and at peace in Heaven. This loyal friend with a loving, generous spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sara is also preceded in death by her siblings, Lamar Cato and Annette Guy; and her nephew, Larry Guy. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her sister, Barbara Cato Gunby (Robert); a niece, Susan Caudle; three nephews, Ray Guy, Al Guy and Steve Gunby; her church family and friends.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center for the professional, loving care shown to Sara while a resident there.

Letting Go

The angels gathered near your bed
So very close to you
For they knew the pain and suffering
That you were going through.
I thought about so many things
As I held tightly to your hand.
Oh, how I wished that you were strong
And healthy once again.
But your eyes were looking homeward
To that place beyond the sky
Where Jesus held his outstretched arms
It was time to say “Good-bye”.
I struggled with my selfish thoughts
For I wanted you to stay,
So we could walk and talk again
Like we did just yesterday.
But Jesus knew the answer
And I know He loved you so.
So, I gave to you the greatest gift—
The gift of letting go.
Now my heart will carry memories
Of the love you gave to me
Until we meet again in heaven
Where the best is yet to be.
