Lovingly called Sam by family and friends, she was born September 9, 1947 in Dearing. She lived in many places across Georgia and Florida before settling in Avera. A homemaker in her later years, you would find her on a dairy farm milking cows in her younger years. She was known for her home cooking and baking. The family would always gather to enjoy great food with good company. Sam will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Sam is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Wells; parents, Clonnie Lewis Welch and Harvey Welch; brothers, Henry Welch, Harvey Welch, C. W. Welch, and David Welch; and sisters, Mary Lizzie Newsome and Margie Williams. Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, Ricky Gay of Avera, John Wells of Indiana, and J. T.
