Nancy Lynn Sheppard Screws

Mitchell, GA –            Nancy "Lynn" Sheppard Screws, 49, entered into her eternal rest early Saturday morning, May 1, 2021 at University Hospital McDuffie in Thomson. Services to celebrate her life will be at 3:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, May 7, 2021 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Robin Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in the Stapleton Memorial Gardens.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

The only daughter born to the late Linda Clark Sheppard and the late Carlton Ray Sheppard, Lynn was raised in the Stapleton-Wrens area. After graduating high school in North Augusta, she attended cosmetology school.  Marrying in 1998, she moved to Wrens and then, in 2016, made her home in Mitchell. Over the years, Lynn worked in various positions at several companies—Club Car, Rheem, Thomson Plastics, Heritage House and, lastly, at ‘Lil Jakes BBQ.  She has been described as being a “laid-back free spirit who was strong-willed and independent”. Lynn enjoyed listening to music, being with friends and, most importantly, taking care of her family.  She loved greatly and was greatly loved.

Lynn was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jaxxon Kyle Rogers; and her brother, Maron Sheppard. Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Hannah Screws-Rogers (Jonathan), Robin Spivey (Peter), Phillip Screws and Shannon Screws; five grandchildren, Grayson Cowart, Wyatt Spivey, Clayton Spivey, Tanner Shealey and Breanna Hanson; ex-husband, Donnie Screws; extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tristan Cunningham, Christian Jeffers, Jonathan Rogers, Peter Spivey and Jason Templeton Jr.

Because of the unexpected nature of Lynn’s passing, the family respectfully asks that memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the service on Friday, May 7, 2021.
