Mary “Dollye” Ellen Glover Borum

Wrens, GA –               In appreciation and love to God for the life of Mary “Dolly” Ellen Glover Borum, 83, loving wife of 65 years to Allen James Borum Jr., we give her rest from this world as she takes the hand of Jesus and He leads her into His perfect world to live in peace forevermore.  Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, December 2, 2020 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Carson Fellows officiating.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged.

The only daughter born to the late Gracie Ellen Mathis Glover and the late Clarence Wilson Glover, Mary was raised in the Glascock/Jefferson county area. Lovingly known as “Dollye”, she met the love of her life at a medicine show, was married in February 1955, started out their lives living in the upstairs unit of the old Howard house, and became a mother 10 months later. As their family grew, they moved into several places in Wrens before settling into their current home in 1959.  She worked as a cashier at the IGA, as a nursing aid in Augusta, and as an EMT for Wrens Ambulance Service, a position that allowed her to help others in their time of need. Dollye’s main focus was her family and being a homemaker, providing a comfortable safe-haven for her family. Being very artistic and creative, she enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, quilting and other arts and crafts. She also enjoyed history, especially the history of Wrens, and collected historical artifacts. Accepting the free gift of salvation, Dollye loved her Lord and Savior, faithfully serving Him at Wrens Baptist Church as long as her health allowed. As evidenced by her writings and journals, she had a close, personal relationship with Jesus, diligently read her Bible, and sought guidance from the Holy Spirit. Being strong-willed and independent, Dollye knew what she wanted and how she wanted it done. She was very generous and loved helping others, especially those less fortunate. Above all else, she loved her family and they, in turn, brought her much joy and pleasure.  Dollye’s faith and trust in the Lord brought her through life’s trials; and now, having a new, perfect body, she is in Glory with God forever more.

Dollye was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Thomas J. Glover and Clarence W. Glover Jr. Other survivors include her three children, Barbara B. Cato, James A. Borum and Julie Timms (Chris); ten grandchildren, Michelle Helton (Kevin), Wesley Cato, Logan Borum, Nicholas Borum, Robyn Higgins, Mary Scott (Jordan), Caitlyn Higgins, Crystal Owens (Kevin), Marilyn Dale (Tyler) and Gabby Cunningham (Tristen); thirteen great grandchildren, Tyler Helton, Dylan Helton, Matthew Helton, Cason Townsend, Kodee Flannagan, Maelie Reinhardt, Henry Scott, Sam Ray, Dean Ray, Aiden Woodard, Makenzie Owens, Briar Dale and Haven Cunningham; nieces, nephews, church family and friends

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 901 Greene St, Augusta GA 30901or online at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/memorial-giving.html.
