Maron Milburn

Stapleton, GA

Maron Jessie Milburn

Stapleton, GA  –         Maron Jessie Milburn, 80, loving husband of 54 years to Sara Watson Milburn, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, August 20, 2020 at River Valley Rehabilitation Center in Blountstown FL. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00PM Sunday, August 23, 2020 with Rev. Mira Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery in Avera.

One of four children born to the late Geneva Elizabeth Crum Milburn and the late Walter Ernest Milburn, Maron grew up in the Stapleton area and was a Wrens High School graduate. A patriot, he served our country in the Army and the Army National Guard.  He was a proud member of American Legion Post 229, serving as a Past Commander and Past Adjutant. Maron loved this great country and showed his honor by flying the flag wherever he lived.  Upon his return home from the Army, he began his 35-year career with Piggy Wiggly. Maron started out in Louisville, and then went on to several other locations—Vidalia, Macon Dublin and Augusta—retiring as a Division Supervisor. Upon his retirement, he moved home to Stapleton. As a young man, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, cherishing the free gift of salvation, and serving him at Waldens United Methodist Church and then in later years at Stapleton Baptist Church. Not one to be idle, Maron was always one to stay busy and began cutting grass and taking care of the grounds for five area churches.  Described as being “level headed and not a hot head”, he always thought before he spoke, making sure that his words would build up and encourage others, and be words of reconciliation, compassion and understanding. A quiet, gentle man, Maron was a loyal, dedicated friend who could be counted on to help other in their time of need.  He was a devoted family man, loving his family unconditionally and was the happiest and most content in their presence. His treasure was not in earthly possessions but in the relationships with his God, family, church family, friends and friends he had yet to meet.  Maron has now met his Savior face-to-face and is worshipping Him in Glory.

Maron was also preceded in death by his sister, Jennie Milburn. Others left to cherish his memory include his children, Maron “Kim” Milburn-Buttke (Andrew) of Panama City Beach FL, and James Martin Little (Ramona) of Macon; two brothers, Walter “Durham” Milburn (June) and Hiram Wardlaw Milburn; two granddaughters, Melissa Lynn Bryant (Denny) and Carly Rose Rasch (Will); and great grandchildren, Carson James Bryant and Violet Merrell Rasch.  Serving as pallbearers will be George Arrington, Donald Manning, Charles Milburn, Jason Milburn, Scott Reid and Tommy Wood.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00–3:00PM Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2020 before the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
