Linda Taylor McGahee Smith

Wrens, GA  –              Linda Carol Taylor McGahee Smith, 72, loving wife of 37 years to Truman Adam Smith, entered into her eternal rest early Saturday morning, November 21, 2020 at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday afternoon November 24, 2020 in the Keysville United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Ed Chance officiating.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, November 23, 2020.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged.

One of four born to the late Annie Stevens Taylor and the late Fred Gilbert Taylor, Linda was raised in Keysville, lived a short while in Augusta after getting married, then moved back to Keysville before moving to Wrens where she has lived since 1983.  Linda was a homemaker who strove to make a comfortable, safe-have for her family. She did work as a seamstress in Warrenton and Stapleton for a short while, but her main focus was her family and being available to support and supply their needs. She loved working in her flower garden, fishing, and cooking for her family; however, she most enjoyed and cherished time spent with those she loved.  She made her family top priority and loved them unconditionally.  Linda has been described as being a sweet, gentle soul with an easy-going attitude who tried to please everybody and wanted everyone to be happy.  Having a servant’s heart, she epitomized Jesus’ in her quiet, unassuming servitude to others.  Linda accepted Jesus’ free gift of salvation at an early age and depended on his strength and comfort, especially during her extended iillness. She is now glorifying Him in her eternal home in Heaven. Nothing can fill the void of her homegoing; but her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she has left behind.

Those left to cherish her memories also include her children, Vicki Neveu (Raymond) and Paul A. Smith; siblings, Kathy Pridgen (Gene), Judson Taylor (Betty) and Fred Taylor Jr.; nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Keysville UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Dianne Stewart, 8219 Hwy 88 E, Keysville GA 30816.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindnesses evidenced in thought, deed and prayer.
