Linda Dell Allen Rowland

Harlem, GA –             Linda Dell Allen Rowland, 71, loving wife of 47 years to Samuel Albert Rowland, entered into her eternal rest Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2021 at University Summerville in Augusta. Private graveside services will be held in the Louisville City Cemetery Wednesday, January 6, 2021 with Reverend Chad Watkins officiating.  Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at a later date at Bethesda Baptist Church located at 5793 Old Augusta Highway, Harlem GA 30814.  The family will receive friends at the time of the memorial services.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

One of two daughters born to the late Idelle Fair Allen and the late George Allen, Linda was born and raised in Louisville.  After graduating from Louisville High School, she attended Augusta Tech, graduating with a Secretarial Administration degree. She then began working at Fort Gordon, retiring after 33 years of service.  She met the love of her life at the Little Moo in Louisville, marrying in October 1973. They then moved to Harlem and started their family.  Linda loved to fish as much as her beloved husband, sharing many, many hours together at the lake. They lived at the lake from March til May most every year in their camper in the North Jefferson Campers Club where they fished every day, hosting a fish fry most every night for their family and neighbors.  A great cook, it has been said that Linda made the very best hushpuppies and butterbeans, bar none!  Linda attended Wrens United Methodist Church until she joined the fellowship of Bethesda Baptist Church. Having a loving, generous spirit, she loved people and helping others in any way she could.  She was one of the first to fix and deliver meals to the sick and elderly in her church family and community. Linda had a BIG laugh and a great sense of humor.  Her humor kept her going through all of her many health issues and no matter how bad she was feeling, she would laugh and push through the pain.  Family was the most important aspect of her life—her love was unconditional and constant.  The void left by Linda’s passing cannot be filled, but her memory will continue in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.  She will be greatly missed….

Other left to cherish her memories include her two children, Allen S. Rowland and Samantha L. Rowland; a sister, Barbara Jean Allen; her “adopted” family—her in-laws, Linda and John Bryan, and Billy and Judy Rowland; church family and friends.
