Laylah Mae Smith

Avera, GA –                On the 17th day of her life on earth, Laylah Mae Smith, infant daughter of Brianna Nicole Strickland and Wyatt Hamilton Smith, died peacefully in the arms of her loving parents and went home to her Heavenly Father on May 9, 2021 from University Hospital in Augusta.  Services to celebrate her life eternal will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2021, with Rev. Mike Barr officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during this gathering.

Others left to cherish the memory of this precious baby girl include her maternal grandparents, Lisa M. Strickland, Bobby G. Strickland Sr., and Crystal and Stevie Furr Jr.; paternal grandparents, Gail and Ronnie Smith; great grandparents, Pamela F. Dixon (Joe Martin) and Thomas Poole; aunts and uncles, Bobby Strickland Jr., McAyla Strickland, Ryan Hall Emily Hall, Landon Hall, Jason Strickland, Taylor Hall, Samuel Furr, Trinity Furr, Blake Smith (Elizabeth), Brock Smith (Natalie), Jacob Smith, John Smith (Lisa), Mary Radford (Eric), Christy Harris, Rhonda Black (Charlie) and Peggy Crow (Sam); cousins and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, John E. Dixon, Mildred Poole, Jimmy McGahee, and Lilly Mae and Robert Smith.

Even though Laylah was with us a very short time, she touched the lives of many for which we are eternally grateful.  Thank you, our Heavenly Father, for allowing us this precious time on earth with her.

Because of their unexpected and tragic loss, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, PO Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2021 prior to the services.
