Jenny Sue Coleman Gonsalves

Blythe, GA –               After a long hard-fought battle with lung cancer, Jenny Sue Coleman Gonsalves, 53, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Monday morning, March 22, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, March 24, 2021 with Reverend David Bridwell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery in Matthews.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

Born in Louisville to Rose Mary Prickett Burke and John Morgan Coleman Sr., Jenny grew up in Matthews and attended Wrens High School.  During her early years growing up, she worked on the farm where she learned to drive tractors—she never lost her fondness and fascination with tractors.  A talented seamstress, she worked at Stapleton Garment, Thomson Company, Gibson Garment, and for the last eight years at Carole Fabrics in Augusta. Jenny also loved people, especially the elderly, and had worked as a CNA and in housekeeping at Keysville Nursing Home. She loved to travel—the beach and the mountains being her two favorite places to visit. She also enjoyed boating, camping and riding motorcycles.  She just liked to ride around to “see things”; and as she was riding around, old country songs could be heard playing on the radio. She was a fighter and was a breast cancer survivor. A happy person who always saw the good in everything, Jenny has been described as being very loving, caring, tender-hearted and a hard-worker who provided for her family. She loved her family unconditionally and spending time with her “grandbabies” brought so much joy to her heart—she was so proud of each and every one.  Having had that life-changing experience where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, Jenny found the peace, comfort and contentment that only comes through Him. She reflected strength and happiness to her family in her last days as she awaited her time to go to her eternal home.  Jenny will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

Jenny was preceded in death by her sister, Pamela “Tracie” Coleman.  Other survivors include her husband, Richard Watson Gonsalves; three children, Heather Castro-Hernandez (Jose), Jessica Castro-Almazan (Rogelio) and Justin Prickett; seven grandchildren, Jose Castr-Hernandez Jr., Cristofer Castro-Hernandez, Esmeralda Castro-Hernandez, Jazelin Castro-Almazan, Noel Castro-Almazan, Miliana Castro-Almazan and Natalie Castro-Almazan; five siblings, John Coleman Jr., Debra Coleman, Donna Coleman, Michael Burke (Melanie) and Jeffery Burke; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Jose Castro-Hernandez Jr., Cristofer Castro-Hernandez, Noel Castro-Almazan, Amy Coleman, Tyler Coleman, John King and Buddy Wilcher.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. prior to the services on Wednesday afternoon, March 24, 2021.
