Helen Marie Hardin Wyatt

Avera, GA –                Helen Marie Hardin Wyatt, 83, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021 at her residence. Services to celebrate her life will be held at Jordan Chapel Church of God at 3:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, September 5, 2021 with Rev. David Jones officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her daughter in the church cemetery.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

Born to the late Willie Maude Killibrew Hardin and the late Walter “Dub” Thomas Hardin Sr., Helen grew up in Gibson. She quit school after the 8th grade, moving to Augusta to take care of relatives’ children.  It was there that she met and married Jack Wyatt, and soon thereafter became the proud mother of her precious special-needs daughter.  Helen was a homemaker with her first priority being her daughter and making sure she was in a safe, loving environment.  After their divorce in 1985, she moved back to Gibson. After her daughter passed and because of her health decline, she moved to Avera in 2017 to live with her “adopted grandson”.  She enjoyed watching westerns on TV, especially Gun Smoke; but her favorite pastime was talking with people. Helen loved her Lord and Savior, serving Him faithfully at Jordan Chapel Church of God where she was a staunch prayer warrior. She loved to read her Bible and did so daily.  Helen’s live was devoted to her daughter and her church.  Her loving, generous spirit will be greatly missed by her family, church family and friends.

Helen is also preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline L. Wyatt; step-mother, Mary "Mag" Hardin; and two sisters, Mary B. Sheppard and Evelyn H. Newsome. Those left to cherish her memories include her two siblings, Joyce H. Usry and Tom Hardin; her “adopted grandson”, Ricky Willis Gay; seven nieces; one nephew; church family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Fulmer, Wesley Jones, Harold Lamb, Charles Usry, Isaac Woods and Frank Youngblood.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday evening, September 4, 2021.
