Edwin Lee Wimer

Wrens, GA  –              Edwin Lee Wimer, 78, loving husband of 46 years to Sandra Howard Spear Wimer, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, January 23, 2020 at his residence. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 4:00 – 5:00 P.M. Sunday, January 26, 2020.

One of four children of the late Lulu Rebecca Weeks Wimer and the late John Nevin Wimer, Eddie was born and grew up in Norfolk VA. Upon graduating high school, he proudly served our country by enlisting in the Army.  After his tours were up and while attending bible school in Salisbury NY, he met the love of his life.  Both having servants’ hearts, they were care givers for different family members and, because of their love for children, were foster parents in Florida and Georgia for over two dozen children.  Eddie loved his Lord and Savior, and after settling in Wrens, served him at Praising Him Ministries but worshipped Jesus in all the surrounding area churches.  He loved attending gospel sings and would join in by playing his tambourine and whistling—thereby becoming known as “the whistler”.   Being very gregarious, Eddie never met a stranger loved meeting and talking with people about many different and varied subjects.  Being very creative and artistic, Eddie was very “theatrical” in his dress for theme parties at the Senior Citizens in Sandersville.  He was also known for his eloquent writings and stories.  To say that Eddie was a “character” is an understatement.  He had a very unique and interesting way of thinking—it was never dull when Eddie was around.  His favorite time was Christmas, celebrating his Savior’s birth.  His loving spirit will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.  Eddie is now in the presence of his Lord for all eternity.

Eddie was also preceded in death by his son, Chad Wimer; and his brother, John Nevin Wimer.  Other survivors include his children, Kimberly A. Wimer and Bartram Wimer; two siblings, Rebecca Wall and William M. Wimer; two grandchildren, Traci Jean Sedlovski (Naume) and Toby Keith Sellers; two great grandchildren, Jojo Sedlovski and Luka Sedlovski; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
