Douglas Roland Dixon

Wrens, GA –               Douglas Roland Dixon, 57, peacefully entered into his eternal rest Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta. Services to celebrate his life will be held at the Wrens Church of God at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, September 3, 2021with Reverend Jason Burton officiating.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

Loving son of Barbara “Bobbie” James Dixon and the late Lewis “Pete” Roland Dixon, Doug grew up in Jefferson County and attended Wrens High School. He worked at Federal Paper before going into the construction business for himself doing remodeling and carpentry work until his health decline in 2018, at which time he moved back in with his mother.  He found great enjoyment in fishing and gold panning. He was also an amazing artist and loved to draw. Doug was most content being around water—Clarks Hill, mountain streams, the beach.  He found it especially soothing and comforting just sitting on the beach, listening to the waves and watching the horizon.  He was a thinker and like his solitude. Described as being “a force to be reckoned with” and “a bit stubborn”, Doug had a strong, unbreakable love for his family and was fiercely loyal. He had great faith, knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and attended Wrens Church of God. Gone all too soon, Doug will be greatly missed here on earth but is now pain-free in his eternal home.

Doug is also preceded in death by his grandson, Dalton Welch; paternal grandparents, Agnes Burbage and Nathan R. Dixon; and maternal grandparents, Beatrice and Silas James. Other survivors include his two children, Kaila Alisa Dixon and Dokota Ray Dixon; grandson, Christian Ray Moore; three siblings, Judy Moore (Louis), Donald Connor (Tracey) and Tracy Dixon; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The family will receive friends after the services at Wrens Church of God Friday afternoon, September 3rd.
