Catherine “Anne” Paul Coker

Evans, GA –                Catherine “Anne” Paul Coker, 92, peacefully entered into her eternal rest early Friday morning, March 18, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 21, 2022 in the Westover Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Chris Kerley officiating.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

One of seven born to the late Orie Estelle Johnson Paul and the late John Roy Paul, Anne grew up in the Stapleton-Wrens area, graduating from Stapleton School before attending Martha Berry College in Rome GA where she earned her Associates in Accounting. She roomed with her sister in Augusta while working at SRS where she met her first husband. They moved to Tallahassee FL and later to Jacksonville for his job. She then worked for CSX Railroad, retiring as an accountant. While in Jacksonville, Anne met and married her second husband and had a ready-made family. After her husband passed and to be closer to her family, she moved into Brandon Wilde in 2012.  She loved her Lord and Savior, serving Him as an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Jacksonville.  A former Rockette, Anne loved to dance—she especially love tap dancing. Being self-sufficient, independent and strong-willed, she has also been described as having a “big personality”; being the consummate host and making sure her guest were entertained and engaged; being a loving, caring neighbor and friend who made the effort to truly get to know others, including all their families.  Because of her love for people and generosity of her time, she made life-long friends.  She was all about relationships. Anne will be remembered for her ability to remember and tell jokes as well as her big, beautiful smile which would light up the room when she entered.  Anne will be greatly missed by her family but especially her Brandon Wilde family who she grew to love immensely.

Anne is also preceded in death by her siblings, James Paul, Bill Paul, Pat Hobbs and Betty Sue Walden. Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Thomas E. Coker; sisters, Jeannette Worsham and Bobbie Reese; two grandchildren, Susan Coker-Frye (Jonathan) and Todd E. Coker (Kelly); seven great grandchildren, Abigail Frye, Madeline Frye, Olivia Frye, Grayson Coker, Caroline Coker, Grant Coker and Laura Kate Coker; special friend, Wayne Bland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
