Betty Anne Henderson Brannen

Wrens, GA –               Betty Anne Henderson Brannen, 91, loving wife of the late Ernest Earl Brannen Jr., peacefully entered into her eternal rest Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022 at Silver Linings Personal Care Home in Stapleton. Services to celebrate her life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Saturday afternoon, January 29, 2022 with Rev. Chad Watkins officiating. A private interment will be held in the Westover Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

The only child of the late Ruby Davis Henderson and the late Craig Henderson, Betty was born in Forest Park. Her family moved to Wrens when she was a young child. After graduating from Wrens High School, she attended Georgia Southern where she met Ernest—another only child—marrying him April 24, 1949 in the Wrens Baptist Church.  Betty worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life—at The Lighting Galleries and then Pratt-Dudley Building Supply, retiring in 1994.  A loyal friend, loving wife and mother, Betty loved her family and was the caregiver for her husband—they were married 36 years and have been separated by death for 36 years—and, later, her parents.  Betty enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and reading until macular degeneration prevented her seeing well enough to continue.  Playing basketball in high school, she was always a sports lover—college football, baseball (huge Braves fan), and golf.  Her love of football grew after marriage as her husband was a football coach.  Accepting Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior, Betty was a child of God and loved her church family while attending Wrens Baptist Church and, since 2007, Wrens United Methodist Church.  In 1999, she fought and won a battle with ovarian cancer.  Betty was not worried about the outcome because she knew the Lord was taking care of her and had given her a peace about the outcome.  Due to dementia, her spunky, opinionated personality really came out over the last few years.  Because of her declining health, Betty moved to Silver Lining Personal Care Home in December 2020 where she enjoyed life with the other residents and staff, especially Mallory and Mickie who could always make her smile.  She will be greatly missed but we know she is forever worshipping Jesus in her Heavenly home.

Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Deborah B. Everett (Bob) and David Brannen; two grandchildren, Laura Everett of Kennesaw and Christopher Everett of Chanhassen MN; special cousins, Jane and Ray Smith; other extended family, church family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Fund online at americankidneyfund.org or to Wrens United Methodist Church, 202 Russell Street, Wrens GA 30833.

Special thanks to the staff of Silver Linings Personal Care Home and Regency Hospice for their excellent, loving, professional care.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home after the services Saturday afternoon, January 29, 2022.
