William "Braddy" Jones

June 17, 1935 — February 20, 2024

Stapleton, GA

William “Braddy” Jones, 88, loving husband of 61 years to Shirley “Faye” Neal Jones, entered in to his eternal rest Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at home under the care of Heartland Hospice.  Services to celebrate his life will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00AM Saturday morning, February 24, 2024 with Pastor Donnie Chapman and Pastor Jonathan Melchior officiating. Interment will follow in the Stapleton Baptist Church Cemetery, Stapleton GA. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00AM Saturday, February 24, 2024 prior to the service.

Braddy was born in Sandersville on June 17, 1935 to the late Helen Lucille Braddy Jones and the late Jack Eben Jones, Sr.  After graduating from Wrens High School in 1953, he served our country in the Army. Upon returning home from his stint in the Army, he started work with Southern Natural Gas Company in Macon, where he enjoyed a long and successful career of 36 years that took him to many cities in Georgia and across the Southeast. He retired to his hometown of Stapleton upon his retirement in 1993.

Having accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age, he was strong in his faith.  Braddy served his Lord as a past member of Stapleton Baptist, and as a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Louisville where he was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.

A humble and unassuming man, Braddy was comfortable in quiet contemplation and solitude. He was known to be thoughtful, considerate, a great listener, abundantly kind and generous. He was a man of few, but meaningful words, who received his greatest enjoyment from life’s simple pleasures and moments.

Braddy was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack Eben Jones, Jr. and Harry Spencer Jones.  Along with his loving and devoted wife, Faye, those left to cherish his memories include brother-in-law, Tommy Neal; sister-in-law, Lois Jones; eight nieces and nephews, Jack Eben Jones III (Christmas), Russell Spencer Jones (Kim), Susan Jones Shainline (Steve), Barbara Jones Courtney, Kelvin Neal (Suzanne), Keith Neal (Melinda), Leanett Douglas (David) and Patricia Smith (Daniel). Honored to serve as pallbearers include Anthony Lamb, George Stapleton, Seth Williams, Harold Howard, Smith Dickson, Andy Allen, Walker Lewis and Scott Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Jimmy Prescott, Rolph McDonald, Scott Stapleton, and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Louisville.

The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Stapleton Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Anthony Lamb, PO Box 146, Stapleton GA 30823.
