Shirley Faye Williams Snider

December 26, 1945 — August 10, 2025

Gibson, GA

Shirley Faye Williams Snider, 79, born on December 26, 1945, peacefully transitioned into her Heavenly home on August 10, 2025, at the Gibson Health and Rehab Center. Shirley was a beloved figure in her community, remembered for her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.

She grew up in the Gibson-Edgehill area and proudly graduated from Glascock County School. Shortly before her 18th birthday, she married the love of her life, Robert "Bobby" Snider Sr., on November 18, 1962. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love and devotion, and their shared life was marked by a strong commitment to one another and their family.

Shirley had a vibrant career, initially working at the Stapleton Garment Company and later at Milledgeville State Hospital after moving to Milledgeville for job opportunities. However, once her daughter was born, she made the heartfelt decision to return to Gibson in 1966, where she devoted herself to being a loving homemaker. Her nurturing qualities shone brightly as she dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for her family.

An easy-going and independent woman, Shirley cherished family gatherings and the connection they fostered. She possessed a deep love for her family, with each of her grandchildren holding a special place in her heart. She was always there for her loved ones in times of need, offering support and kindness.

In her free time, Shirley found joy in working in her flower garden and creating beautiful floral arrangements. A woman who took pride in her appearance, she was known for always having her hair and make-up done, and she dressed to the nines wherever she went. Shirley enjoyed attending her church and Masonic Lodge, and she delighted in shopping, particularly at Wal-Mart. Additionally, her love for animals was evident, as she had a special fondness for dogs, cats, and horses.

Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted children, Laura Harmotta (Charlie), Robert L. Snider Jr. (Amanda), and April Shelton (Thomas); her cherished grandchildren, Crystal Reeves (Neal), Tara Edwards (Matthew), Amber Shelton, and Walker Shelton (Destiny Ansley); her beloved great-grandchildren, Dawsyn Reeves, Carson Reeves, Hadley Ann Edwards, and Millie Edwards; her brothers, Terrell Williams and Kenneth Williams; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bobby" Snider Sr.; her parents, Lena Reese Williams and Cleo Williams; and two sisters, Helen Chalker and Dianne Williams.

Visitation will take place on August 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at James Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM in the James Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bishop Matthew Heaton, after which she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the Gibson Branch Cemetery. Honored to be pallbearers are the men in her family—Robert, Thomas, Neal, Matthew, and Walker—and Kurt Landrum, her nephew.

Shirley's warmth, love, and dedication to her family and friends will be profoundly missed. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
