Shirley Faye Masters Glackin, 82, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 9, 2024. Graveside services were held at 11:00AM Friday, April 12, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta with Deacon David Callahan officiating.
Born on April 15, 1941, in Oglethorpe County, Shirley's family later moved to Augusta where she spent her formative years and eventually raised her own family.Described as "special" and "unique," Shirley was known for her love for her family, with her grandchildren having a very special place in her heart. She had a playful reputation for "bossing them around." Her vibrant personality and unwavering dedication to her loved ones left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
In addition to her successful career spanning over three decades as a tax preparer, Shirley enjoyed traveling. Her favorite destinations included the excitement of cruises, the bright lights of Las Vegas, and Cherokee, all of which held the “entertainment” of casinos. These adventures brought her immense joy and created cherished memories with her family.
Shirley is survived by her children, Teresa Callahan (David) and Mark Glackin; two brothers, Harold Masters and Jimmy Masters; grandchildren, Joey, Cherie, Casey, Daniel, Mikey, Odessa, Odette, Olivia, Alex, Jasper, Kaylee, Austin, Maddie, Jamie, Blake, Ellie, Emory, Ryley, Briar, Bentley, Ireland, and Tru; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other extended family members; and friends. She is preceded in death by three children, Danny Glackin, Cherie Glackin and Scotty Glackin; two grandchildren, Stephanie Thaxton and Lee Thaxton; her parents, Lois Green Masters and James Masters; and two siblings, JoAnn McBurney Porath and Kenneth Masters.
Shirley will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
