Samuel Fay Beasley
Retired Sr MSGT - AirForce

Wrens, GA  –               Samuel Fay Beasley, 77, loving husband of 60 years to Connie Swan Beasley, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, March 28, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Ways Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Turpin and Art Soares officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

One of three sons born to the late Katie Agnes Morgan Beasley and the late Albert Samuel Beasley, Fay grew up in and around the Stapleton-Avera area and was a 1959 graduate of Wrens High School. After their first date at the age of 17, he pursued the only girl for him which culminated in the marriage after their graduation from high school. Shortly thereafter, Fay, being a patriot, proudly joined the Air Force, retiring with 22+ years as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served at Eielson AFB in Alaska, Sewart AFB in Tennessee, Pope AFB in North Carolina, Bienhoa AFB in VietNam as well as in Thailand.  Fay served as a role model and was a mentor to many young airmen. After his retirement from the Air Force, Fay worked at Lockheed Martin for 15+ years as a Supply Chief.

Fay accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a young man and served Him as a prior member of Stapleton Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church in Fairbanks AK, and First Baptist Church in Spring Lake NC, and an active member of Ways Baptist Church.

Fay loved to FISH, often for pleasure but also competitively, winning many tournaments and trophies. An outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting and gardening.  He was also very active, especially while serving in the Air Force, in various sports, such as softball, volleyball, horseshoes, and pool, to name a few. In his quiet time, he enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and sudoku. Fay always looked forward to the family's annual beach trip.  Listening to music, especially gospel music, gave him much pleasure.

A kind-hearted, generous man, Fay saw others’ needs and tried to help in any way he could. He would often give away the vegetables produced in his garden, loading them up in his truck and delivering to the homes of the elderly and the shut-ins.  Fay had an absolute, unconditional love for his family and was most content in their presence—he especially enjoyed the fruits of his labor in his grandchildren. This man of honor and integrity, who loved his family, his God and his country without measure, is now in his Heavenly home and missed dearly by those he left behind.

Fay was also preceded in death by his brother, John S. Beasley. Other survivors include his three children, Samuel Fay Beasley II of Boone NC, Pamela Beasley McCaa (John) of Spring Lake NC, and Cameron Swan Beasley of Boone NC; a brother, Albert R. Beasley of Bellevue NE; four grandchildren, Olivia Beasley, Kira Beasley, Laura Beasley-Labra (Javier) and Jacob Beasley; one great grandson, Diego Labra; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Beasley, Mack Brooks, Steven May, Gene Powell, Newt Swan and Charles Yonce.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Beasley and Andrew Swan.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Ways Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o PeggyAnn Chalker, 314 Old Quaker Rd NE, Wrens GA 30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening, March 30, 2019.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
