Rebie Norton Boyd

Stapleton, GA  –         Rebie Norton Boyd, 90, loving wife of 47 years to the late Carl Judson Boyd, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, December 10, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday morning, December 14, 2019, at Stapleton Baptist Church with the Reverend Josh Mosley officiating. Interment will follow in the Stapleton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

One of eight children born to the late Lydia Maria Pugh Norton and the late Jesse Jackson Norton, Rebie grew up in Jefferson County, graduated from Wrens High School, retired as secretary of Wrens Elementary School, and was a member of Stapleton Baptist Church.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, which manifested in her love for her church and church family, and her faithful support of her church, serving Him as a member and former teacher of the TEL Ladies Sunday School Class and, because one of her gifts was her ability to sing, as a  member of the choir. Her day included “quiet time”—time spent with the Lord—praying, and reading and studying her Bible.  Rebie enjoyed working in her yards, especially raking leaves. She also enjoyed to travel to the north Georgia mountains. Rebie was a fun-loving, loyal friend who always had a kind word and smile for everyone she met. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy and treasure. She had an absolute love for her Lord and Savior, her family, and her church. Rebie has left this earth in the twinkling of an eye and is now praising Jesus in her eternal Heavenly home.

Rebie is also preceded in death by her son, Judson McWhorter Boyd; and six siblings, Jesse Lee Norton, Louis Norton, Frank Norton, Johnnie Norton, Eddie Norton and Frances Kirkendohl.  Survivors include her children, Mike Boyd (Kathy) of Canton, Bruce Boyd (Charleen), Joyce Prescott (Jimmy) of Wrens, and Amy “Belinda” Brown (Robert) of Harlem; a brother, Herbert Norton (Kaye) of Augusta;  daughter-in-law, Cathy Boyd; nine grandchildren, Daniel Boyd (Tami), Meghan Mossler (Fred), Evan Boyd (Taylor), Matt Boyd, Jeffrey Hadden, Nicole Boyd, Brittany Boyd, Kelsie Hadden, and Jesse Prescott (Abby); five great grandchildren, Makayla Boyd, Makenzie Boyd, Morgan Boyd, Banks Mossler, and Beau Mossler; nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Boyd, Evan Boyd, Matt Boyd, Jeffrey Hadden, Jesse Prescott, and Fred Mossler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor can be made to the Stapleton Baptist Church P.O. Box 146, Stapleton GA 30823 or to Pruitt Cares Foundation 1626 Jeurgens Court, Norcross GA 30093 (or online at PruittCares.org).

The family sends heartfelt and special thanks to the caregivers who devoted so much of their time and who have shown so much love and compassion in the care of their mother for the past two years.

The family will receive at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, December 13, 2109.
