Rebecca Anglin Battle

June 23, 1934 — May 4, 2025

Wadley, GA

Rebecca Mae Anglin Battle, 90, a cherished member of the Wadley community, peacefully entered into Heaven on Sunday evening, May 4, 2025, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital. Born on June 23, 1934, Rebecca was a native and lifelong resident of Wadley, where she left an indelible mark through her spirited dedication to family and business.

Rebecca's educational journey began at Wadley High School, culminating in an associate's degree from Georgia Teachers College, now recognized as Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Following her college graduation, she briefly worked at the Bank of Wadley before co-founding Battle Lumber Company, Inc. with her beloved husband. For over 60 years, Rebecca devoted her life to the company, ensuring a legacy of success for her children and grandchildren, while also playing a vital role in Wadley’s economy.

A Southern lady at heart, Rebecca radiated kindness and love in all her endeavors. Known for her servant's heart and compassion, she was a peacemaker who showed Christ's love through her actions. Having accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young girl, Rebecca served faithfully as an active member of Wadley Methodist Church. Her famous pound cakes brought joy not only to her family, but also to her church family and friends.

Rebecca's hobbies and interests were diverse. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to places such as Daytona Beach, Florida; Lake Toxaway, North Carolina; and Clarks Hill Lake. As members of the Georgia Fun Seekers RV Club, they embraced the adventure of RVing across the United States, creating many lasting memories along the way. Additionally, her involvement in the Wadley Ladies Birthday Club provided her with delightful friendships.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and the love for her family was beyond words. Being with her children and their families brought her immense joy. Her absolute favorite times were spent watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in ballgames, dance recitals, and pageants. She left a piece of her heart with all of them.

Rebecca is survived by her children: Teresa B. Miller (Craig), Tommy Battle (Rita), and Laura B. Swan (Bob). She leaves behind a legacy of ten grandchildren: Becky Pryor (Charles), Kristin Dale (Johnny), Mary Beth Coccia (Michael), Thomas Battle (Mandy), Drew Battle (Jessica), Katelyn Battle, Rob Swan (Mary Catherine), Matt Swan (Bree), Jon Swan (Frankie), and Annie Swan, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren: Miller Anne Pryor, Shep Pryor, Rebecca Pryor, Michael Dale, Georganna Dale, Aly Dale, Mac Coccia, Mary Craig Coccia, Miles Coccia, Sara Thomas Battle, Claxton Battle, Trey Battle, Andrew Battle, Elizabeth Battle, Mary Charles Swan, Bobby Swan, and Fred Swan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joanne Blount.

Preceding her in death were her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Julian "Wayne" Battle, along with her parents, Mildred Evelyn Eubanks Anglin and George Thomas Anglin.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 6, 2025 at Wadley First Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Rev. Chad Watkins will be officiating. Interment will follow the services in the Wadley City Cemetery. Her grandsons and great-grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers—Anna Calhoun, Helen Hickson, Charlotte McBride, Kathy Schultz, and Ellen Tarver—for the loving, compassionate care shown to her in word and deed.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Wadley First Methodist Church (P.O. Box 99, Wadley, GA 30477) or to Thomas Jefferson Academy (2264 U.S. Hwy 1 N, Louisville, GA 30434).
