Phyllis Ernestine Bartlow Wommer

Hephzibah, GA  –       Phyllis Ernestine Bartlow Wommer, 85, loving wife of the late David Earl Wommer Sr,  entered into her eternal rest Tuesday evening, March 1, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services in Georgia will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening, March 4, 2016 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jason Burton officiating. Funeral services in Hughesville, Pennsylvania will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday afternoon, March 7, 2016 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home with Kathy F. Phyllis was one of six children born to the late Emma Sarah Charles Bartlow and the late James David Bartlow in Lycoming County, PA, where she attended school, married, worked and raised her children, moving to Georgia in 1992 to be closer to her girls.  An accomplished seamstress, she worked in the textile industry as well as sewed her children’s clothes, curtains, etc. Phyllis loved to cook for her family and was known for her potato soup.  Her other interests included working in her flowers, doing word search games, bird watching (especially cardinals--her favorite), and just being outdoors. While in her native hometown, she was a member of the East Lycoming CB Club.  A loyal, dedicated wife, mother, sister and friend, she was dependable and could always be counted on when needed.  Phyllis loved her family unconditionally and was happiest in their presence—she especially loved playing with her grands and great-grands.  Her death has left a void no one can fill but she leaves memories and a legacy no one can steal.

Phyllis is also preceded in death by all of her siblings, Martha Bartlow, Eleanor Phillips, Alvin Bartlow, Geraldine Wommer and Miles Bartlow. Survivors include her children, Emma L. Givens, Alvin E. Wommer, David E. Wommer Jr. and Sue Wommer; fifteen grandchildren, David Givens, Jeff Givens, Rusty Givens, Randy Givens, Tim Givens, Ernestine “Ernie” Phelps, Terry Wommer, Rebecca “Becky” Eidson, April Wommer, Mike Wommer, Davey Wommer, Jennifer Baldwin, Danny Keebler, Heather Keebler,  and Katie Sheppard; twenty three great- grandchildren, Clinton Canaday, Jessica Givens, Dillon Givens, Trent Givens, Houston Givens, Cullen Givens, Kenny Phelps, Dusty Phelps, Jack Phelps, Stephanie Eidson, David Eidson, Katie Wommer, Macey Wommer, Zack Baldwin, Vinny Baldwin, Megan West, Landyn Wommer, Cohen Wommer, Destiny Keebler, Bridgett Keebler, DixieLee Sheppard, Rachael Keebler and Wyatt Herring; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Legacy of Love

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So, go in peace, you've earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.
