Patricia Marie Hopkins Blanchard

Wadley, GA  –            Patricia Marie Hopkins Blanchard, 50, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister,  entered into her eternal rest Tuesday evening, July 11, 2017 at Vero Health and Rehab in Wadley.  A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 5:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, July 14, 2017 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Larry Fincher of Old Bethel Baptist Church officiating.

Pat was the youngest daughter and middle child of five, grew up in Louisville, and attended Louisville High School.  After a near fatal auto accident at the age of 17, her prognosis was grim for any quality of life, if she survived at all, as the doctors at the time did not expect her to do. She astonished everyone with the extent of her recovery and, while she dealt with several limitations and disabilities throughout the remainder of her life, Pat surprised her family and friends with her plans to marry the love of her life, David, in 1995, and then with the birth of her beautiful daughter in 1999. David built them a small, but sturdy, home between Louisville and Wadley, where the family resided until his death in 2012. Pat then moved in with her father who took care of her for the next several years before the move to Vero Health and Rehab.  Because of her fierce determination and unquenchable spirit, her legacy lives on in her daughter and in our hearts.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, David Sidney Blanchard; her maternal grandparents, Lorene and Tom Peebles of Wrens; and her paternal grandparents, William Hopkins and Gladys Graham of Hart, MI. Other survivors include her daughter, Danielle Marie Blanchard of North Charleston SC; her parents, Sarah Frances Peebles Miller of Wrens, and William “Bill” Edward Hopkins; two sisters, Donna Landrum (Redd) of North Charleston SC, and Sherry Dukes (Tony) of Wrens; two brothers, Richard Hopkins of Wrightsville, and Michael “Mike” Hopkins (Jessy) of Hephzibah; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Due to Patricia’s lifelong health issues, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA  30833.

Heartfelt thanks and appreciation is extended to the staff of Vero Health and Rehab for their compassionate care.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home following the service Friday evening, July 14, 2017.

To Those Whom I Love
When I am gone, release me—let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy that I have had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part
So cherish the memories in your heart.
I will not be far away, for life goes on.
So, if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
Then, when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home”.
