Mildred Idell Hobbs Hadden

Stapleton, GA  –         Mildred Idell Hobbs Hadden, 85, loving wife of 59 years to the late Glenwood “Tug” Hoyt Hadden Sr., entered into her eternal rest early Monday morning, October 9, 2017, at her home.  Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2017  with the  Reverends David Kitchens and Ralph Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow in the Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

One of two children of the late Nettie Lou Landrum Hobbs and the late Johnny Lee Hobbs, Mildred was born and raised in Glascock County.  As a child, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and attended Zoar Methodist Church. After graduating from Stapleton High School where she met the love of her life, she married and moved to Augusta before he joined the Navy.  A homemaker, her family was her first priority and made sure their home was a safe haven filled with love. She served her Lord at Southgate Baptist Church where she kept the nursery. After her husband’s retirement in 1990, they moved to Stapleton, moving their church membership to Reedy Creek Baptist Church and where she was a member of their WMU.  After her health decline, she attended Full Gospel Lighthouse Church with her daughter.  A woman of faith and a prayer warrior, Mildred loved going to church and worshipping her Lord.  She enjoyed travelling, especially the Blue Ridge Mountains, going to flea markets and shopping.  She always wanted to look her best and liked to dress in bright colors and to wear her bracelets and necklaces. Mildred loved country and gospel music—her favorite artist being Elvis.  She loved to “talk” and never met a stranger.  Mildred loved her family unconditionally and was most content in their presence.  This sweet, happy, caring woman will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Glenwood H. Hadden Jr. (Julie), Robin H. Cunningham (Pete), Tony L. Hadden (Tina) and Ricky F. Hadden (Susan); her brother, Plamon Hobbs (Mildred) of Thomson; fourteen grandchildren, Stephanie Young (Matt), Tricia Owens (Eric), Alicia Queen (Jon), Jamey Hadden, Brandie Johnson-Wells (Jason), Nick Thomas (Jessica), Tristen Cunningham, Christopher Cunningham, Brendon Cunningham, Justin Williams, Erica Hadden, Benjamin Hadden (Lauren), Julia Hadden and Grace Nelson; eighteen (18) great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Tristan Cunningham, Ben Hadden, Jamey Hadden, Clyde Morey, Rocky Stewart, Nick Thomas and Matt Young.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Young At Heart Seniors.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 2:00 -- 4:00 P.M. prior to the services Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2017.
