Mary Agnes “Aggie” Williams Secord

Grovetown, GA  –            Mary Agnes “Aggie” Williams Secord, 91, wife of  Clayton Charles Secord, entered into her eternal rest Friday evening, November 13, 2015 at Hall Personal Care Home in south Augusta.  Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church in Mitchell at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 with Rev. Tony Mimbs officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

One of six children born to the late Mary Lou Walden Williams and the late Albert Randolph Williams, Aggie was a native of Jefferson County.  At the age of ten, the family moved to Glascock County where she attended school, played basketball and was a 1943 graduate.  After working on a farm for several months, she went to business school and was hired by civil service as a clerk at Robbins Air Force base in Warner Robbins, after which she transferred to Atlanta, retiring with 30 years of service.  Upon retirement, she moved to Columbia County to be closer to her family. Aggie found great peace and pleasure fishing and working in her flower garden.  She had a great sense of adventure and loved to travel—Mexico, Guatemala, California, New York, Atlantic City, and all of northeast U.S.  People were naturally drawn to her good-natured, fun-loving attitude, great sense of humor, and loving spirit.  She was devoted to her family and was most content in their presence.  Aggie loved her Savior and is now sharing eternity with Him in Heaven where she is reaping the fruits of her labor.

Aggie is also preceded in death by her siblings, Aubrey Williams and Nan Lee Griswell. Other survivors include her son, Steve Ashley and wife Katherine of Jacksonville FL; siblings, Albert R. Williams of Augusta, John W. Williams of Savannah, and Florrie W. Hughes of Dearing; a very special great niece-in-law, Belinda Bridges; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews—Dennis Griswell, Randy Griswell, Harold Hughes, Larry Hughes, Jason Williams, Joey Williams, Mark Williams and Wayne Williams.

IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW

If you could see me now, you wouldn't shed a tear.
Though you may not understand why I'm no longer there.
Rememer my spirit--that is the real me
Because I'm still very much alive, I've just been set free.
Oh, if you could only see!
I have beheld our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand.
All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land.
Beyond the gates of pearl, I've walked on the golden streets.
I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the Crystal Sea.
The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare.
I've even seen your mansion and someday I'll meet you there.
Let Jesus by  your guide because His Word will show you the way!
So, please don't cry because we will meet again someday...
