Mary Brock Simpson Wren

Wrens, GA –               Mary Brock Simpson Wren, 73, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021 at her residence just ten days after her loving husband of 42 years, George Thomas Wren Jr., passed.  Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 6, 2021 with Chaplain Race Lariscy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed.  The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

One of five children born to the late Wanda and Sid Brock, Mary grew up in Corbin KY. She quit school to get married and start a family. After her divorce in 1973, she moved to Augusta to be closer to her mother. She married the love of her life, George, in 1979 and moved to Columbia SC for his job. It was there that she finished high school, receiving her diploma from Richland NE High School. She worked as a food vendor before going to work for Pontiac Foods where she retired as a lab technician in 2006 and moved to Wrens to help her husband in his business.  They were a loving, supportive couple who totally enjoyed one another and loved being together.  They travelled extensively in their motor home and hosted at many NASCAR events, and were grand marshals for several races. Mary was very easy going and got along with everyone. She has been described as having a servant’s heart and being the most kind-hearted person.  She was a nurturer for both people and animals—she loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats. Mary had an absolute, unconditional love for her family.  She has left a void that no one can fill and memories that no one can steal.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Danny Simpson; sister, Barbara Scarboro; several nieces, nephews and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Sterling Harris, Keaton Holliday, Sajon Harris and Trey Harris.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the services Monday afternoon, September 6, 2021.
