Mary A. Clark
Louisville, GA – Mary A. Clark, 57, loving daughter of the late Ethel Juanita Barfield Clark and the late Roger Hopkins Clark Jr., entered into her eternal rest Friday night, December 1, 2017 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday afternoon, December 4, 2017 at Louisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Peter Vermeulen officiating. Interment will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Mary was born and raised in Louisville, graduating from Louisville High School. She attended Georgia Southern in Statesboro before going to work with the Georgia Department of Revenue in Douglas. Moving back to Louisville to take care of her ailing mother, she worked for several different Georgia government agencies before taking early retirement due to her own health issues from the Social Security Administration office in Augusta. Mary was a member of Louisville United Methodist Church and an active member of the Genesis Sunday School class. She loved her church and church family, and took pride in her family’s long history in the church. Mary was an animal lover—her pets were her “children”. A die-hard Georgia Bulldog fan—GO DAWGS!!—she was inaccessible during game time. She also enjoyed fishing, reading, drawing, and cross-stitching. Her bubbly personality, fun-loving attitude and smile always brightened everyone’s day—she had a laugh that went on forever. A loyal, devoted friend, Mary will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her death leaves a void that no one can fill, but her love leaves us memories that no one can steal.
Mary is also preceded in death by her brother, Rogers Hopkins Clark III. Those left to cherish her memory include her special friends, Delores and Brent Cason, Doris and Larry Purvis, Debbie and Harold Gaston, Cathy and Bubba Bargeron, and Lizzie “Sista” Quarterman and family; special cousin, Bob Hayes, Elizabeth Stafford and her children; her church family and friends. Pallbearers will be Jack Bazemore, Tyler Dale, Phillip Douglas, Rocky Harris, James Quarterman, Joseph Quarterman, Tommy Quarterman and Will Purvis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Genesis Sunday School Class of Louisville United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church she loved—Louisville United Methodist Church, 301 W. 7th Street, Louisville GA 30434.
Friends will be received in the Louisville UMC from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Monday afternoon, December 4, 2017, prior to the funeral services.
