Martha Estelle Clark

Wrens, GA  –              Martha Estelle Clark, 83, loving daughter of the late Mozell Weeks Clark Matthews and the late John Clark, entered into her eternal rest Friday morning, April 1, 2016 at Willows Assisted Living Home in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday afternoon, April 4, 2016 in the Wrens Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church with Reverend Carl Geisik officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.

Martha was a lifelong resident of Wrens and was a faithful member of Wrens ARP Church until her health declined three years ago. She graduated from Wrens High School after which she was employed at Ft. Gordon, retiring with over 30 years of service. Athletic and considered a “tom boy”, Martha loved the outdoors and could be found mowing the lawn and working in the yard. She also loved to golf (a member of Wrens Country Club); to bowl (a member of Ladies Ten Pin for 40 years); to fish; to play cards with family and friends; and to watch the Braves games—she was an avid Braves fan. Never having married, Martha “adopted” her nieces and nephews as her own and will be remembered for her good breakfasts and “mean” churns of ice cream.  Children gravitated to Martha’s fun loving attitude.  Having a reserved nature, she never wanted the limelight but worked faithfully in the background to ensure her family’s comfort. She loved her family dearly and was most content in their presence.

Martha was also preceded in death by six siblings, Ruth Clark, Ed Clarke, Thomas Clark, Frances Clark, Bill Clark and Agnes Simons. Survivors include one sister, Katie C. Rabun of Augusta; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be Bobby Brown, Justin Brown, Matt Deufel, Clark Rabun, Clay Rabun, Austin Webb and Larry Wooten.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 1:00-2:30 P.M. Monday afternoon, April 4, 2016, prior to funeral services.

Golfer's Prayer
God, as I play through the 18 holes of my life
I pray each drive is long enough to reach my goals
And straight enough to keep me out of trouble.
When I find myself in life's traps and hazards,
I pray to escape them with no penalty
And to always stay in bounds.
I pray to always play with honor.
And when I putt out on the 18th green,
I pray I have shown integrity and character;
I pray to be worthy of joining your threesome,
to play forever on Your heavenly course.
Amen.
