Lou “Fleater” Wall Chalker, 76, passed away early Friday morning, October 23, 2026, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born at home in Thomson on April 26, 1950, she grew up in the Thomson-Warrenton area and later made Gibson her home. When her health allowed, she praised her Lord and Savior in shared spiritual fellowship at Friendship Baptist Church in Mitchell.
Fleater was educated in Thomson and Warrenton and devoted many years of her working life to Stapleton Garment Company, where she worked as a seamstress for 29 years. She was known as a straight-shooter who shared her opinions and thoughts honestly, and she was also remembered for her great sense of humor. She was funny, loved to cut up, and brought warmth and laughter to those around her. Giving by nature, she helped others whenever and however she could.
She found joy in life’s simple and lasting pleasures. Fleater loved to fish, delighting in the thrill of the catch while also appreciating the quiet solitude it offered. She was a great cook who loved seeing her family enjoy the meals she prepared. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains, where she was amazed by their beauty and serenity. She also enjoyed going out to eat, especially at Lewis Lake, and she loved watching westerns. Fleater was a huge Elvis fan and loved listening to his music, especially his gospel albums.
Above all, Fleater loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her heart to overflowing and held a special place in her life.
Fleater is survived by her daughter, Lisa Cranford and her husband, Billy; her son, Eddie Phillips and his wife, Denise; her grandchildren, Greg Phillips and his wife, Olivia, and Jeannie Hooks and her husband, Tae; her great-grandchildren, Hadley Edenfield and Jacey Hooks; her sisters, Jeannette Turner and Norma Jean Faglier; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. May their memories of her humor, strength, generosity, and love bring comfort in the days ahead.
Those who went on before her include her mother, Sara Mooney Wall; her father, Chester Wall Sr.; her brothers, Chester Wall Jr., Ricky Wall, George Wall, and Jack Wall; and her sister, Margaret Wall Frauhiger.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening, October 26, 2026, at James Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00AM Tuesday morning, October 27, 2026, with Pastor Rodney Dunaway officiating. Interment will follow in the Wall family plot in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Stacy Faglier, Tracey Faglier, Gary May, Cody Turner, Cory Turner, Jerry Turner and Aaron Wall.
Lou Fleater Wall Chalker will be remembered for her faith, her honesty, her laughter, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her life touched many, and her memory will be cherished.
