Lisa Carole Richards Childers, 61, a beloved sister, aunt and friend, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at her residence in Wrens. Born on October 30, 1964, Lisa was a beacon of joy to all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy marked by her vivacious spirit, love for animals, and unwavering faith.
A proud 1982 graduate of Glascock Consolidated School, Lisa began her career as a parapro at Southside Elementary in Augusta. She dedicated several years to shaping young minds before moving to Alpharetta, where she faced declining health. In 2016, Lisa returned to Wrens to be closer to her family during this challenging time. Despite the health hurdles that prevented her from continuing to work and support herself, she remained a vibrant presence in the lives of her loved ones.
Lisa's personality was one of a kind. Always sociable, she had an innate ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger. Her infectious laugh and radiant smile were constants that filled the hearts of her family, friends, neighbors, and even those she encountered in everyday life. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and served faithfully at Wrens Christian Fellowship Church (formerly Wrens United Methodist Church) until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
An animal lover at heart, Lisa had a special fondness for Dachshund dogs. At the time of her passing, she was the proud owner of her cherished pets, Sadie and Chloe. Additionally, she was an avid and passionate supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs, eagerly watching every game that was aired, proudly chanting "GO DAWGS!"
Lisa is survived by her loving sisters, Lynette Brooks (Joe), Faith Aldred (Tom), and Judy McMurrain, along with her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Hobbs Richards and Doughty Richards, as well as her siblings, Wayne Richards, Milton Richards, and Linda T. Rogers.
A graveside service honoring Lisa's life will be held at 3:00PM Friday, February 20, 2026, at Wrens Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Shane Busby officiating.
As we remember Lisa, let us hold dear the memories of her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit—a true testament to the impact she made in her life and throughout her community.
