Linda Sue Gilbert Holley

Wrens, GA  – Linda Sue Gilbert Holley, 74, entered her eternal home in Paradise Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from UPAC-Old Capitol Nursing Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014 with Dr. Stan Littleton and Rev. Jim Emory officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Gardens.

A native of Lima, OH, Linda was one of two daughters born to the late Dorothy Fogle Gilbert and the late Wayne L. Gilbert.  She attended the Dental College at MCG in Augusta and moved to Wrens in 1973 after marrying the father of her daughters.  She worked for many years as a dental assistant after which she worked and retired from Queensborough National Bank & Trust. She was an avid reader and could stock a library with her books.  She also enjoyed cross stitching—winning 1st Place  in the Exchange Club Fair competition; and travelling—taking trips all over the US and Italy. Most of all she loved and enjoyed her family. Linda was a gracious, sweet-spirited lady who loved her Lord and Savior, serving him at Wrens United Methodist Church and by volunteering at Kairos, a Washington County state prison ministry in Davisboro, and at the GA-Lina Emmaus Walk at Camp Mt. Moriah in Matthews.  Her longing and desire to be with Jesus in her Heavenly home is now a reality.

Linda’s survivors include her children, Steve Cox (Kim) of Lima OH, Gary Cox (Bellin) of Columbus OH, Michelle Holley Stewart (Troy) of Stapleton, and Jennifer Holley; step-daughter, Cheryl Holley Burke; sister, Diane Cunningham of Pittsburgh PA; eight grandchildren, Adam Cox, Aric Cox, Alissa Cox, Samantha “Sam” Cox, Drew Cox, Bryar Stewart, Branson Stewart and Zackary Holley; three step-granddaughters, Holley Burke, Sara Burke Knipher (Craig) and Jamie Burke; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Jim Gay, Marcus “Partner” Holley, Jeff Jones, Joe May, Sam Pennington and Charles Stewart.

The family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Wrens UMC, 202 Russell St, Wrens GA 30833.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home this evening, Friday, May 16, 2014 from 7:00-9:00PM.
