Linda Faye Walker Greeley

May 12, 1953 — May 25, 2026

Keysville, GA

Linda Faye Walker Greeley, a cherished mother, devoted family member, and vibrant spirit, peacefully transitioned into her eternity early Monday morning, May 25, 2026, at Brentwood Nursing Home in Waynesboro. Born on May 12, 1953, in Oakridge, Tennessee, Linda led a life marked by love, strength, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.

A native Tennessean, Linda's early years were spent in Oliver Springs and then moved to Dayton, Ohio with her family before settling in Doraville, Georgia, where she graduated from Sequoyah High School in 1972. In 1974, she moved to the Augusta area to be near her father. It was there that fate united her with her future husband, George Leslie Greeley, during his military service at Fort Gordon. Together, they embarked on a life journey that included two tours in Germany, as well as time stationed in Virginia and New Jersey, before retiring and returning to Augusta.

Above all else, Linda regarded her most important role as a stay-at-home mother, placing her family at the center of her life's work and priorities. Her love and commitment to her family was the cornerstone of her heart. She was a proud and affectionate mother to her son, John Richard Greeley, and found immense joy in her five grandchildren: Brittney Greeley, Ember Gunn (Douglas), Justin Greeley, Graysen Greeley, and Brooke Greeley. Her affectionate nature extended lovingly to her five great-grandchildren—Londyn Bostic, Nicholas Bostic, Jayden Kelly, Kenneth Gunn, and Carson Gunn—whose lives she touched deeply.

Linda’s talents and passions extended beyond the household. While in New Jersey, she was proud to work in the group home for handicapped citizens. A gifted seamstress, she skillfully worked at Carole Fabrics in Augusta for several years, as well as created cherished baby clothes, prom dresses, and various sewing projects for family and friends. She also applied her friendly demeanor and work ethic in retail sales at K-Mart and engaged in several other local jobs throughout her life. Her artistic inclination was reflected not only in her sewing but also in her continuous dedication to arts and crafts projects, through which she expressed her creativity and joy.

Her love for family and friends was transcended by her spirited personality. Known for her spunky and feisty nature, Linda was strong-willed and fiercely independent. She embraced life with a fun-loving spirit, readily making friends wherever she went. Among her greatest joys were her beloved canine companions—Lin, Bella, and Honey—whom she loved dearly.

Linda was also a talented cook, renowned for her exceptional lasagna, and she nurtured a passion for gardening, often sharing the fruits of her labor—the tomatoes and vegetables she tenderly grew—with those around her.

Though her devoted husband, George Leslie Greeley, and her parents, Wilma Jean Lust Walker Baker and Charles Gilbert Walker, preceded her in death, Linda also leaves behind her sister, Kathy Walker of Dayton, Ohio, along with other extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

The family will greet friends at James Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00PM Monday evening, June 1, 2026. The funeral service to honor Linda will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026, in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Lotz officiating. The committal and interment will follow at 1:00PM in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Park in Milledgeville. Serving as pallbearers include Richard Greeley, Graysen Greeley, Justin Greeley, Douglas Gunn, Jushua Simmons and Marc Simmons.

Linda Faye Walker Greeley’s life was rich with love, resilience, and creativity. She will be remembered not only for the enchanting artistry of her hands and the warmth of her cooking but more so for the fierce and loving heart that filled all who knew her with kindness and joy. Her legacy lives on profoundly in her family and the many lives she touched with her spirited presence.
