Linda "Dianne" Prescott Hunt, 76, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026, at her son's home. Born on April 21, 1949, Linda's life journey took her from her roots in Glascock County to a long-standing residence in McDuffie County.
A graduate of Thomson High School, Dianne married in 1968 and devoted over 25 years serving as a mail carrier in Dearing before retiring. Her dedication to her family and community was mirrored by her steadfast faith; she found comfort and purpose in accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior. As a past member of Dearing Baptist Church and an active participant in Silver Run Baptist Church until her health declined, she exemplified a life of service and devotion.
Dianne was known for her straight-forward and honest nature, qualities that endeared her to those who knew her best. Fondly called "Nini" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she took immense joy in gardening, camping, and being surrounded by family—her greatest passion.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Hunt (Charlene) and Chris Hunt (Crystal); six grandchildren, Ethan Hunt (Shannon), Evan Hunt (Karlee), Malloree Berry, Macie Hunt, Garrison Hunt, and Caleb Hunt; and seven great-grandchildren, who all held a special place in her heart. Linda also leaves behind four sisters—Debbie Johns, Donna Mullis, Kathy Jowers (Jimmy), and Joyce Hicks-Paugh—and four brothers—Walter "Butch" Hicks (Marie), Donald Hicks (Julie), Dennis Hicks, and Randy Hicks—along with an extended family of cherished relatives, church family, and friends who mourn her loss.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lawrence Hubert Hunt; her father, Roy "Peck" Nathan Prescott; her mother, Monnie Genine Daniels Hicks; her step-father, Walter Hicks; and her brother, Carey Hicks.
Dianne’s visitation will be held from 12:00PM – 2:00PM, Friday, April 10, 2026, James Funeral Home, with the funeral service commencing at 2:00PM officiated by Chaplain Katrine Salter-Wood and Pastor Phillip Bertsch. Interment will follow at Silver Run Baptist Church. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Ethan Hunt, Evan Hunt, Garrison Hunt, Caleb Hunt, Joe Riley and Aidan Ruby.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggests that memorial contributions be made to Silver Run Baptist Church, 5406 Hwy 221SE, Harlem GA 30814, earmarked for the Cemetery Fund.
Surrounded by her loving family in her final moments, Dianne peacefully transitioned to her eternity in Heaven, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, faith, and unwavering honesty. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
