Lexie Mural Black Bazemore

Wrens, GA  –              Lexie Mural Black Bazemore, 90, loving wife of the late Lee Thomas Bazemore, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, September 8, 2015 at Gibson Health and Rehab Center in Gibson. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00A.M. Thursday, September 10, 2015 with Rev. Roy White officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Lexie was one of five children born to the late Annie Vickery Black and the late Ira Otis Black.  She was born and raised in Sardis, where she met the love of her life while waitressing at the Sardis Café. After marrying, they continued to live in Sardis until 1966 when they moved to Wrens to open Bazemore Furniture Store, and later opening a bait and tackle shop.  Because of her love for her family, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom, creating a loving home environment for her “boys” and making sure they were fed well. She enjoyed fishing on the river, camping, cooking and planting flowers, especially tulips and roses.  Lexie also loved to read, especially the newspaper which kept her up on current events. She found quiet peace watching birds feed from her bird feeder. Lexie loved her Lord and Savior and served Him at Wrens United Methodist Church. She was very easy-going, except in the mornings, and had a very loving spirit. Her priority was her family who she loved unconditionally and without reservation. Her unselfish, abiding love will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lexie  is also preceded in death by her son, Leeland Bazemore; and her siblings, Ira O. Black Jr., Grady Black and Margie Black. Survivors include her three sons,  Gary L. Bazemore (Iris), Glenn H. Bazemore (Carol) and Roger D. Bazemore (Cheryl); sister, Mattie Lee Long; seven grandchildren, Jeff Bazemore, Daniel Bazemore (Misty), Lisa Hadden (Brady), Jason Bazemore (Allison), Dennis Bazemore, Greg Thomas and Laurie Thomas; nine great grandchildren, Dolly Bazemore, Leland Bazemore, Adam Bazemore, Gage Bazemore, Kaylee Kelley, Jared Price (Candace), Harley Hadden, Logan Bazemore and Luke Bazemore; one great-great grandson, Caleb Price; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Pallbearers will be her nephews—Sherril Black, Randy Black, Tommy Black, Keith Black, Jay Martin and Michael Smith.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, September 9, 2015.

COME WITH ME

The Lord saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put His arms around you
And whispered, "Come with me."
With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
A beautiful smile at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
It's lonesome here without you--
We miss you so each day.
Our lives aren't the same
Since you went away.
When days are sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
"Cheer up and carry on."
Each time we see yourpicture,
You seem to smile and say,
"Don't cry...I'm in God's keeping.
We'll meet again someday."
