Jeffrey Allen Kitchens, affectionately known as "Tiny," peacefully transitioned into his eternity early Saturday morning, May 23, 2026, at Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 23, 1964, Jeffrey was a lifelong resident of Wrens, where he grew up and continued to live in the same family home on Highway 17, north of Wrens.
Tiny’s life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a generous spirit. After graduating from Glascock Consolidated High School, he began his career driving a propane truck for Town & Country Gas. He later served in the Gas Department for the City of Wrens before becoming a heavy equipment operator for Morgan Construction at Plant Vogle. While working these jobs, he remained a steadfast helper to his father on the family farm, demonstrating his enduring commitment to family and community.
Perhaps his greatest passion and pride was his more than 25 years of service as an engineer with the Wrens Volunteer Fire Department. Jeffrey's selfless dedication to serving his neighbors and ensuring the safety of his community reflected the depth of his caring nature and his desire to make a positive impact.
Known for his huge heart, Tiny was a man of warmth and generosity who loved people and never met a stranger. His uplifting attitude and can-do spirit remained unshaken even through significant health struggles. A jokester at heart, he delighted in brightening the lives of others with his humor and infectious laughter, bringing joy to all who knew him. He treasured being in the company of others and made many friends during his time at Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center, where he moved in early 2024 when he could no longer care for himself. There, he left a lasting impression on both staff and residents alike.
Jeffrey’s interests were as varied as they were beloved. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found peace and pleasure in the outdoors. Alongside his mother, he collected Christmas Villages, a cherished family tradition. He had a deep love for cooking, avidly watching cooking shows to refine his skills. Tiny often lent a hand to his father at their community fish fries, events that welcomed all from the surrounding area, and he even opened his own BBQ place—a testament to his culinary passion. His family Boston Terrier, Toot-Toot, held a special place in his heart and was his cherished friend.
Jeffrey’s faith journey began in his younger years at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member, reflecting the values of community and belief that shaped his life.
He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted parents, Rubye Huff Kitchens and Ernest Lamar Kitchens, whose memory he now joins in eternal rest, as well as his aunt and "second mom", Audrey Rose.
Jeffrey leaves behind a family who cherishes his memory and carries his spirit forward: his uncle, Robert Huff of Bartow; his special cousin and lifelong friend, Pam Randall (Austin) of Appling; and his special forever friend, Brian Usry (Renae) of Stapleton, along with cousins, extended family, and many friends who were touched by his kindness and joy.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Chris Sheppard and the staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center for their love, compassion and professional care.
A visitation to honor Jeffrey's life will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at James Funeral Home in Wrens. Following this, a graveside service will take place that same day from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Jefferson County Memorial Gardens with Rev. John A. Jenkins officiating.
Jeffrey “Tiny” Allen Kitchens's legacy is one of compassion, service, and unwavering positivity. He will be remembered as a man who, despite life's challenges, always chose to uplift others and spread joy. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him. May he rest in peace as he is reunited with his beloved parents in Heaven.
