James Lee Sanders, Sr.

Stapleton, GA  –         James Lee Sanders, Sr., 79, loving husband of the late Margaret H. Sanders, entered into his eternal rest Saturday morning, September 10, 2016 at his daughter’s residence in Glascock County.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning, September 15, 2016 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John A. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson County Memorial Gardens.

One of ten children born to the late Mabel Smith Sanders and the late Leo Sanders, James was born in Girard and grew up outside of Waynesboro in Burke County. He quit school at an early age to go to work and help out his family. As a young man, he lived in Dallas TX for seventeen years, working in the upholstery business before moving back to Millen where he worked for the Knox Trailer plant. To be near his family, he moved to Stapleton in 1985 at which time he was a long-haul trucker before hauling locally for Wayne Smith.  James loved to be outdoors: he especially loved fishing and hunting. He had a feisty attitude but was always quick to help others. He loved his Lord and Savior and served Him at Reedy Creek Baptist Church. A good provider for his family, James was a constant in their lives. His deep, abiding, unconditional love for his family will live on in their hearts.

James was also preceded in death by his son, Russell James Sanders; and six siblings, George Tabbet, Helen Davis, L. H. Sanders Jr., Marilyn Poole, Donnie Sanders and Ricky Sanders.  Other survivors include his children, Kathy A. Lambert (Hugh) and James Sanders, Jr.; three siblings, Carolyn Shockley, Evelyna Joles and Dee Hamilton; six grandchildren, April Parker (Scott), Jason Lambert, Maggie Harris (Ron), Katie Sanders, Rusty Sanders and Amy Walden (Chris); thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Mark Covington, Greg Davis, Joe Davis, Craig Manseau, Bill Perry and Wesley Williams. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be his great grandson, Micheal Williams.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, September 14, 2016.

POP

Together we have cried an ocean of tears
as we feel so empty and we all hold so many fears.
But Pop would want us all to know he is in a good place
and Granny was there to meet him. He is watching
with a smile on his face, as we have made him so proud
that he raised such a special and  strong family.
We all should feel lucky to have Pop in our lives.
The memories I will treasure and keep secure in my heart.
Be thankful for all the good times we shared with him.
I know when God called your name, you had to go.
There was no time for good-byes.  Pop, if you are listening,
say a prayer for all of us.  Protect and guide us on our way.
Just one last thing—tell Granny “I love you a bushel and a peck
and a hug around the neck.”  Tell Uncle Russ, “We love you and
stay away from them missions.”
You will never be forgotten.   I love you…..
Mean Girl
