James “David” Reese, 80, entered into his eternal rest Saturday, September 9, 2023 at his home. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Ways Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery
Born in Wrens to two wonderful parents and having many loving siblings, David grew up in and lived in Wrens his entire life. After graduating from Wrens High School, he worked at various different places around town, including Lloyd’s Auto Parts and Reese Chevron, as a mechanic. Many locals remember him welcoming them into Lloyd’s with a kind smile and helping hand. David found joy in the simple things in life—drinking a cold Pepsi; playing Solitaire; and watching Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith episodes were some of his favorite hobbies. He also loved working in his yard and taking his dog on walks around the neighborhood, and was always able to strike up a conversation with anyone he came across. Most of all, David deeply loved his family, and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He loved driving around town with his grandkids on the golf-cart, taking them on trips, and making countless loving and fun memories with them. David loved the Lord and exemplified the kindness of the Father to everyone he met, and while he will be forever missed, we know he has eternal peace and rest now in the arms of the Lord.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Belle Peebles Reese and Jerome Reese; and four siblings, Garvin Reese Marvin Reese, Ervin Reese and Nancy Weathers. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Judy Treadway Reese; three siblings, Elizabeth Windham (Doyle), Temus Reese (Shirley) and Butch Reese (Joanne); his children, Ray Treadway (Natalie) and Tony Sutton; grandchildren, Jasmin Treadway, Macy Cross (Sam), Cody Treadway, and Kaitlin Sutton; and many nephews, nieces and other extended family.
