James B. Brown
Wrens, GA – James B. Brown, 84, loving husband of 60 years to Marianne Rivers Brown, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, September 11, 2018 at University Hospital. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, September 14, 2018 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Carl Geisik and Dr. James M. Ford officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
Son of the late Lillian Elizabeth Brown and the late Charles William Brown Sr., Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Wrens. After graduating from Wrens High School, he began a career with Georgia Department of Transportation, retiring as an engineer with 40 years of service. He then worked for the Augusta-Richmond County Engineering Right-Of-Way Division, retiring with 15 years of service. Jimmy served as Elder at Wrens Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Jimmy was also preceded in death by his brothers, B. L. “Spec” Brown and Charles Brown Jr.; and his sister, Marian Laurens. Other survivors include his daughter, Andrea Usry; sisters-in-law, Inez Brown and Betty Bellairs; and was “Dida” to Chandler and Sadie Smith. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Brown, Ken Brown, Wayne Davis, Wayne Favors, Hugh Fleming, Charles Laurens, Don Laurens, Bobby Smith and Chandler Smith.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, September 13, 2018.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 4th Street, Santa Monica CA 90401; Wrens ARP Church Building Fund, 404 King Street, Wrens GA 30833; or Wrens Memorial Cemetery Fund, c/o Hugh Fleming, 104 Norton Drive, Wrens GA 30833.
