A lifelong resident of the Jefferson-Glascock county area, George was born on September 29, 1945 to the late Maudie Lamb Black and the late Joseph Thomas Black Sr. He spent his life leaving lasting impressions on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

George dedicated 33 years of hard work to Thermo King, 22 of these years he was a manufacturing supervisor. Prior to this, he honed his skills at various local establishments, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. A patriot, George also served his country with distinction in the Army and then the National Guard before retiring with 21 years of service.

Beyond his professional recreational pursuits, George was an avid outdoorsman, who found solace and enjoyment in activities like hunting, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler and tractor. His love for music, especially bluegrass and country tunes, brought joy to those around him. A loyal fan of the GA Bulldawgs and Thomson High School Bulldogs, he never missed a game—either in person or tuned in on the radio.

George's true passion was his family. He adored spending time with his grandchildren—attending every one of their events from ballgames to birthdays and holidays. His fun-loving nature shone through as he joked around and spread laughter wherever he went.

George is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Johnson Black; children, Bobby Wren, Michelle Norris (Charles), Sharon Myers (Les), Liz Banks (Patrick), Richard Radford (Kayla), Brandon Radford (Kaylee), and Dillon Radford (Sadie); grandchildren, Bobby Lee Wren, Michael Wren, Timmy Wren, Jay Hawkins (Meagan), Jessica McKinney (Jordan), Josh Myers, Jeremy Myers, Jackson Myers, Hannah Radford and Ella Radford; great-grandchildren, Cain Wren, Easton Wren, Anna Grace Wren, Noah Norris, Lily Norris, Emersyn Hawkins, Bennett McKinney, and Brooks McKinney; along with other extended family members and friends. He is also predeceased by his spouse, Edith Gay Black; grandchildren, Christopher Wren and Joah Hawkins; as well as all of his siblings, Hilda Pelham, Tommy Black, Gretchel Sapp, Melvis Gay, and Sharon Black.

George Albert Black's enduring legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a profound impact on those around him.
