Eva Mae Wilson Prescott
Wrens, GA – Eva Mae Wilson Prescott, 88, loving wife of 66 years to the late Walter Elbert Prescott, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, August 6, 2019, at her residence. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning, August 10, 2019 at Wrens Baptist Church with the Reverend Carson Fellows and John Prescott officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.
One of nine children born to the late Stella Mae Underwood Wilson and the late Artis Elton “A.E.” Wilson, Eva grew up in Jeff Davis County, graduated as Salutatorian from Hazlehurst High School, after which she graduated with an Associates degree from South Georgia College in Douglas. It was there that she met the love of her life, marrying him after he completed Navy boot camp. Giving her life to Jesus at a young age, they were married in her church, Union Springs Baptist Church. Being stationed at various naval bases, they would join the fellowship of the local church. After the Navy, they made their way to Wrens in 1955, joining the fellowship of Wrens Baptist Church. Eva loved her church and church family—faithfully supporting the church and actively serving the Lord by working in the nursery for over 60 years, as a member of the Lucy Howard Sunday School Class, and attending the various Bible studies. She loved to read and study her Bible. Loving people and as a co-owner of Prescott Furniture Store, she met and made many life-long friends. Eva always made a way to share Jesus and open up gospel conversations. Her first priority was her family and she loved being a homemaker—working in her flowers, canning, freezing, cooking, making their home a safe haven, and taking care of her family’s needs, always teaching and training them in the ways of the Lord. A loyal friend and a woman of wisdom and discernment, many sought her sage advice. Her feisty attitude was housed in a petite frame that stood tall and strong. A true Proverbs 31 woman, Eva had a servant’s heart, worked diligently, was not self-seeking, uplifted others and put others’ needs before her own. She had an absolute love for her Lord and Savior, her family, her church, and her community. Eva has left this earth in the twinkling of an eye and is now praising Jesus in her eternal Heavenly home.
Eva was also preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn Davidson, Madelyn Andres, Duren Wilson, Dorothy Graham, Oliver Wilson, Jackie Andrews and Jimmy Wilson; and son-in-law, Nelson Foster. Survivors include her four children, Sandra P. Foster, Richard W. Prescott (Ina), Jimmy W. Prescott (Joyce) and Raymond E. My Grandma’s Arms
Proverbs 31:10-31 King James Version (KJV)
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
