Elizabeth “Nookie” Weatherford
Wrens, GA – Elizabeth “Nookie” Weatherford , 84, peacefully entered into her eternal rest early Sunday morning, November 6, 2022 at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Keysville. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2022 in the Ways Baptist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Katrina Salter-Wood officiating.
One of four born to the late Rebie Godowns Weatherford and the late Milledge Robert Weatherford, Elizabeth grew up in the Blythe area and attended school in Hephzibah before moving to Wrens. She married and started her family, living her life in the Wrens-Matthews-Stellaville area. Being a compassionate, caring person, she worked for many years in the private home health industry for many families in the area. Elizabeth loved to cook, enjoying meals with her family and friends. She also loved being outdoors and especially loved working in her yards. She has been described as being very feisty, spunky and determined. A people person, she never met a stranger and loved to talk—she never gave out of things to say or stories to share. As a young woman, she accepted Jesus’ free gift of salvation, making Him her Lord and Savior. Both she and her daughters were baptized in the cold spring water at Ways Baptist Church after her declaration of faith. Elizabeth’s first priority was her family, finding great joy and pleasure in each one. She left a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Norris Myers; great granddaughter, Avery Moore; and all of her siblings, Dot Hayes, Bobby Weatherford and Billy Weatherford. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Dianne Norris Ashe; four grandchildren, Tiffany Norris (John Williams), Erin Burroughs (Daniel), Alison Moore (Steven) and Will Ashe; seven great grandchildren, Johnathan, Phillip, Michael, Addy, Liam, Bryn and Owen.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the staff of Keysville Nursing Home and the staff of Regency Southerncare Hospice for the loving, compassionate and professional care given to Elizabeth.
