Elaine Anderson Jones, a lifelong resident of Matthews and Wrens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. She was 83.
Born on December 31, 1941, to the late G.C. “Pete” Anderson and the late Virginia Goodin Anderson, Elaine’s life was marked by kindness, dedication, and love for her family and community. A 1959 graduate of Wrens High School, she went on to earn her Registered Nurse certification from Barrett School of Nursing. Her calling to care for others led her to be an RN at University Hospital. Later, she worked and helped grow the family businesses--MB Jones Oil Company, Town and Country Gas, and Sprint Food Stores.
In 1964, Elaine married the love of her life, the late Henry B. Jones. Elaine was a devoted member of several area churches throughout her life, including Woodland Baptist Church, Wrens Baptist Church, and Wrens Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church. Her faith was quiet but strong, and it shaped her generosity and spirit.
She is survived by her son, Anderson Brinson Jones (Rosanne), and her cherished grandchildren, Anderson Woodard Jones and Olivia Rose Monjeau, who were the light of her life. Elaine adored her family and found joy in simple pleasures—flowers, her cats, cows, and donkeys, all held a special place in her heart.
Her request for a graveside service only will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Wrens Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Jason Owens. The pallbearers will be the team members of M.B. Jones Oil Company and Town & Country Gas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the ASPCA, an organization close to Elaine’s heart.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at The Claiborne Assisted Living, the caregivers from Caring from the Heart of Georgia, and SouthEast Hospice, whose care and kindness made a lasting impact not only on Elaine but also her family.
Elaine’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her—a legacy of grace, strong and caring spirit, and enduring love.
