Eddie Lee Prickett

Stapleton, GA  –         Eddie Lee “Snookey” Prickett, 77, loving husband of 55 years to Agnes Mae Amerson Prickett, entered into his eternal rest Monday, December 19, 2016 at his residence. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, December 23, 2016 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Walden officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the services—from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, December 23, 2016.

Eddie, lovingly known as “Snookey” was one of nine children born to the late Nina Mae Arrington Prickett and the late Lee Alford Prickett.  He lived his entire life in Jefferson County and worked as a farmer, a job he loved, until his health declined. He worked hard to provide for his family, whom he loved with an unconditional devotion. When Snookey was not working, he did enjoy watching TV and loved to sing—he was told he sounded like Hank Williams. His greatest pleasure was being with his family and friends, making them laugh with his jokes and comic outlook. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart—they brought him much joy.  Snookey had a great love for people and was readily available to help others in any way that he could.  His faith in his Lord and Savior sustained him through many tough times, the hardest of which was the death of his son, Dean Prickett, caused by their house fire six years ago.  The home-going of this devoted husband, loving father, reliable brother and friend and good-hearted man, leaves a void for everyone who knew him.

Snookey is also preceded in death by three brothers, Bob Prickett, Wayne Prickett and Bill Prickett. Other survivors include his children, Norma Jean Watts (Don) and Matthew Prickett; five siblings, Sally Ogletree, Gene Prickett, Lewis Prickett, Donnie Prickett (Sue) and Ronnie Prickett (Lisa); four grandchildren, Tiffany Watts, Don L.L. Watts (Magan), Matthew Prickett Jr. (Jessica) and Justin Prickett; three great-grandchildren, Don Lee Watts, Alexander Watts and Oliana Prickett; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends.

They say memories are golden,
Well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
No one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
And heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to Heaven
And bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
