Douglas Correll Mahaffey, born on March 8, 1937, in Gramling, South Carolina, peacefully entered into his eternal rest surrounded by his family early Thursday morning, May 8, 2025, at his residence. He led a life filled with devotion, love, and a warm sense of humor that endeared him to many.
After graduating from Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina, Douglas furthered his education at Clemson University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in 1959. It was during his time at Clemson that he met the love of his life on a blind date in 1956. They married in 1960 and shared 65 years of devoted partnership.
Douglas began his professional career in management and human resources within the textile industry, contributing his expertise to various companies across South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia over a service span of 52 years. In 2003, he and his beloved wife made their home in Wrens, Georgia after retiring from S. Litchtenberg & Co., Inc.
He was not only dedicated to his career but also committed to his faith. A steadfast believer, Douglas accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and became an active member of Wrens Christian Fellowship Church, formerly Wrens United Methodist Church and was a member of the Griswold Sunday School Class there, until his health began to decline.
Douglas proudly served in the military. Following his graduation, he served in the Air National
Guard, and his service included activation during the Berlin Crisis, which took him to Spain.
A people-person at heart, Douglas cherished the moments spent with family and friends. His straightforward nature and good sense of humor made conversations with him enjoyable for all. He found great joy in his family, with his grandchildren filling his heart to overflowing.
Douglas was also a passionate collector of antiques. He loved spending time outdoors, enjoying yard work and various projects at home, proud to consider himself a homebody.
He is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth Wilson Mahaffey; children Tracie Bailey, Blair D. Mahaffey (Michelle), and Tyler C. Mahaffey (Tabitha); ten grandchildren Taylor Bailey (Olga), Beth Anne McCart (Alex), Lauren Clendening (Terry), Drew Cox, Mason Mahaffey (Melissa), Mercer Mahaffey (Rebecca), Marianna Johnson (Davis), Stepan Mahaffey, Alli Toci, and Haley Toci; and his six
great-grandchildren Tillian Bailey, Axl Bailey, Ryen Clendening, Emerson McCart, Adeline Mahaffey, and Marshall Mahaffey. He is also survived by his brother Larry Mahaffey (Mary Jo) and a host of extended family, church family, and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his great-grandson, John Mahaffey, his parents Ruby
Katherine Wallace Mahaffey and Otis Correll Mahaffey, and his sisters Sybil Kay and Jane Fox.

Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate his life with the Reverends Ron Dixon and Chad Watkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wrens Christian Fellowship Church, 202 Russell Street, Wrens GA 30833.
