Stapleton, GA  – Doris Royals Browning Stewart, 83, loving wife of the late James Eli Stewart, entered into her eternal rest Friday evening, March 22, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, March 25, 2013 at Wrens Church of God with Rev. Jason Burton officiating. Mrs. Stewart will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to services. Interment will be at 11:00AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus GA.
Doris was one of eight children born to the late Mary Etta Teston Royals and the late William C. Royals in Douglas, Coffee County. She lived in the Lakeland GA area as a farmer’s wife, then as a seamstress in Ellaville where she spent the majority of her life, moving to FL and then back to GA—always working and rising to the top in every organization.  She put great import on education, earning her GED late in life.  Doris loved to shop and hit the yard sales—the “yard sale queen” was usually accompanied by her shopping buddy, her granddaughter Nancy. She was a strong, hard working woman who loved all her family, but had a special kinship with Wilma, her “adopted daughter”, sister and friend.  Doris was active in her church—attending Sunday School and being there every time the doors were open. She was faithful in her service to her Lord and Savior.  Loved by many, Doris will be greatly missed.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Cleon Browning, Martha Browning and Brenda Browning; and three siblings, Edna Brantley, John Royals and Charles Royals. Those left to mourn her include her children, William E. Browning (Arlene) of Homerville, Earnest Browning Jr. (Penney) of Lakeland, Benjamin Stewart (Nancy) of Elkton FL, Linda McDonald (Mike) of Stapleton, and Patricia Elbers (John) of Jacksonville FL; her siblings, Wilma Hulsey, Joyce Brown, Stella Mae Royals, William Royals, and Robert Royals; thirteen grandchildren, William A. Browning (Jennifer), Tony Browning (Laurie), Nancy Arlene Corbett (Danny), David Lee Browning, Wesley Scott Griffin (Casi), Al Colquitt (Tomoni), Shelby Whaley (Terry), Angel McDonald, Richard Neal Stephens (Christy), Justin Alan Sage, Jonathan Lane Sage, Caitlin Renee Sage, LeAnna Faith Elbers and Brandon Weeks; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in Wrens at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Sunday evening, March 24, 2013 and in Ellaville at Watson Giddens Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Monday evening, March 25, 2013
