Louisville, GA  – Doris Evans Pennington Gould, 89, loving wife of the late Gailord Gould, entered into rest late Monday night, October 28, 2013 at her granddaughter’s residence in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 31, 2013 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Crosby officiating.  Interment will follow in Stapleton Memorial Garden Cemetery.

One of three children born to the late Lena Mae Eason Evans and the late Moody Talmadge Evans, Doris was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, graduated from Wrens High School, and was a member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and a live-in caregiver, living and taking care of people in Arizona, Atlanta, Augusta and Wrens. Doris enjoyed reading, traveling, listening to Southern Gospel and keeping up with current events. Her favorite pastime was cooking and baking cakes—she enjoyed feeding people, especially her family. She loved her pets—cats and dogs—and her family, and was most happiest visiting with her “grands” and “great-grands”. Doris had a great concern for people, always thinking of others and doing whatever she could to make their life comfortable—she had a true “servant” attitude. She loved her Lord and Savior and now resides with Him in her eternal home. This lady of grace and love will be forever in our hearts.

Doris is also preceded in death by her twin sister, Dorothy Evans, and her great granddaughter, Nicole Phillips. Survivors include her children, Bobby Pennington (Naomi) of Aiken SC, Linda P. Irby (Vernon) of Stapleton and Becky P. Irwin (David) of Louisville; her brother James T. Evans (Ramona) of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Joyce P. Beverly (Cal), Carl Pennington (Louisa), Sharon P. Johnson (Ward), Jeff Irby (Teresa), Mike Irby (Stephanie), Jason Irby, Julie I. Fleming and Heather Irwin; eighteen great grandchildren, Michael Drinkwater (Kathryn), Dennis Drinkwater (Jessica), Amanda McBride (Jesse), Andrew Pennington, Matthew Johnson, Mary Johnson, Emily Irby, Kali Irby, Kaitlyn Irby, Locklin Irby, Harley Irby, Jacob Irby, Carson Irby, Zoie Grace Irby, Camryn Johnson, Jordan Phillips, Elijah Phillips and Timothy Phillips; and a great-great granddaughter, Lily Claire Russell. Pallbearers will be her grandsons with her great grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM thi evening, Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of Keysville Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving, professional care.

Legacy of Love

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.

You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife, not just as a mother.

For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.

So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
